It's been a crazy tournament week here in CT! The favored UConn women suffered a tough loss to Notre Dame, while the UConn men carried home the national championship trophy. Let's just keep the madness rolling!
There were 4 match-ups today, the results of which are not all that surprising. We leave this week with no upsets...which I'm sure will not be typical moving forward. To view standings, login to http://www.bracketmaker.com/.
Let's break down the games:
Anderson's Choice - Boys
#6 Micah vs. #11 Caleb
Winner: Micah
Caleb has never been a favorite of Keith's, but Tacy managed to keep it on the bracket this go-around. Although both biblical, Caleb is certainly the more popular of the two nationally, falling in the top 30 names in 2009 (Micah hit about 130). But, national popuarity doesn't rule this bracket, and so Micah moves forward to round two.
Other's Choice - Boys
#5 Ryan vs. #12 Trent
Winner: Ryan
A classic 5-12 matchup, this was one of the harder choices for us this week. After a week of yelling both names across the house to test them out ("Trent, get back here!" "Ryan, quit riding Buddy!") Ryan inched ahead and took out Trent at the buzzer.
Anderson's Choice - Girls
#6 Lainey vs. #11 Norah
Winner: Lainey
Tracy spent much of her pre-wedding tanning-bed time listening to Norah Jones. Perhaps thats what got her on the bracket this time. But, she had some tough competition, and couldn't quite keep up with Lainey, who takes this round. Maybe someday she will feel just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. You know, except for the whole hooker thing. (Kudos if you get that cheesy movie reference.)
Other's Choice - Girls
#7 Sadie vs. #10 Sabrina
Winner: Sadie
A recent celebrity baby-name choice (Christina Applegate for all of you non-TMZ fans), Sadie has that classic yet modern feel that we tend to like. The same could be said for Sabrina, but the "flow" just wasn't there for us on this #10 seed. Sadie moves on to round two!
