It's hard to believe we have arrived at our Final Four. It's been a long week when it comes to the Baby A2 Name Tournament 2011. We don't remember if it was this hard the first time around, but we had a lot of difficulty in selecting this Final Four.
We asked Chase for his input (which primarily consisted of him just repeating whichever name we said last). We tested the name over and over again (which primarily consisted of Keith screaming at this poor unborn child for doing something bad). We researched popularity statistics, alternate spellings, and potential nicknames.
We are exhausted. And ready to meet Baby A2 and find out what his/her name REALLY is.
Thank you to everyone for participating...we love that we could share in this journey with friends and family. We've learned how to be more open to criticism (man, some of you are opinionated!), how to compromise, and how to keep the excitement of a second baby going when we don't have showers to attend, new nurseries to create, and unrealistically positive expectations and hope of labor, delivery, and the newborn phase.
So, what happens now? We wait. We bring four names to the hospital with us, whenever that may be. Obviously the gender will narrow us down to two, and at that point, we will select from the two remaining names.
In terms of who moves on from the opposite gender side (for those of you concerned about those points), we will discuss in advance what we are leaning towards to determine who the "final" boy/girl will be in the championship.
See you in a few weeks...maybe 1? maybe 2? maybe 3? Only time will tell...
Winner: Colby
This was one of our easier games this week, although not "easy" by any stretch. Wyatt was one of our names that felt different than the rest, and that made it really appealing. It's rustic and unique, and we are sad to see it go. Although, of all the names to play against, Colby was a good one. For us, Colby still has some of that rustic, cowboy feel, but maintains some of that modern feel that we are drawn to. So, Colby comes with us to Manchester Memorial Hospital, filling the first coveted spot in our Final Four.

Other's Choice - Boys
#1 Brady vs. #2 Cole
Winner: Cole
In the "Other's Choice" regional, our #1 seed finally goes down. Both Cole and Brady are relatively new in terms of being popular, and have a very similar feel to them, in our opinion. Brady was also a front runner in the Baby A Tournament 2008. For some reason, though, we had trouble seeing "Brady" as an adult. It was a tough choice, and a long game. But Cole comes out on top, and will go up against Colby in the Final Four.
Anderson's Choice - Girls
#2 Lily vs. #4 Claire
Winner: Claire
Claire has managed to upset her way into the Final Four. As a 4 seed, we didn't necessarily see this coming either, but Claire has definitely gained momentum in this tournament. Both Lily and Claire are classic, old-fashioned names. Both are feminine, and have positive meanings behind them. We like the simplicity of Claire, the fact that it's only one syllable (and therefore, difficult if not impossible to shorten), and how it sounds along side of "Chase." Only one name in this regional can move on, and despite our 2 seeds best efforts, Claire secures a spot in the Final Four.

Winner: Charlotte
Hailey made a good run this tournament. As a 6 seed, she was certainly an underdog. One of our favorite American Idol contestants this season held the name, making the appeal grow. Keith especially liked it, and worked hard to keep it in the running despite the odds. But, there are a LOT of different spellings for the name, making it more popular than what the stats initially show, and making it more difficult and frustrating for our potential future little girl. Charlotte, despite more unfavorable opinions, has an undeniable appeal for us. It is old-fashioned, yet regaining some popularity; feminine, yet with tomboy potential (Charlie?). Charlotte narrowly slides past Hailey and moves on to the Final Four.
