Our second "Shining Moment"

Welcome to the world, Claire AnnMarie Anderson!

As many of you know at this point, our baby girl, Claire, made an exciting and unexpected entrance on July 21, 2011 at 12:25 am. After only an hour of "true" labor (that Tracy wasn't even sure was true labor), and two strong pushes, Claire was born at home. Keith, with the assistance of a wonderful 911 dispatcher, delivered our baby girl before EMT's arrived. They came only minutes after, and described it as the most calm situation they'd seen. Despite the delivery and at least 10-15 paramedics and firefighters in the house, Chase slept soundly upstairs!

Once we arrived at the hospital, we found out that Claire was 8.1 lbs, 21 in. She and Tracy were in fantastic health, and all of us were grateful for a safe and healthy delivery and baby.

But, this is not a baby blog, this is a baby BRACKET blog...and so....

Congratulations to Jennifer Grunwald, the winner of the 2011 Baby A2 Name Tournament! Jenn, whose office is right next to Tracy's, has been a friend and confidant throughout this pregnancy. They share similar philosophies on many things baby-related, and it is our pleasure to award her with the $180 grand prize! Jenn, more information is forthcoming!

Here's how the final games played out:

Semifinals - Boys
#2 Cole vs. #1 Colby
Winner: Colby

The #1 Seed from the "Anderson's Choice" regional took on the #2 Seed from the "Other's Choice" regional in this somewhat pointless game (since we had a girl). Colby was the clear winner, however, because we were debating using Colby as our baby girl name when we were going back and forth for hours in the hospital over what her name was going to be! Although Cole would have been a fantastic name, we also didn't want to jinx the Phillies, since the last 2 World Series wins were in 1980 (when Keith and Tracy were born) and 2008 (when Chase was born). So Chase remained our only Phillies namesake, and Colby moved on to the Finals.

Semifinals - Girls
#1 Charlotte vs. #4 Claire

Winner: Claire
The odds were certainly against Claire as our #4 seed, but as time went by, the name grew on us more and more. Charlotte has been a favorite since the beginning, and it was certainly a challenge deciding between these two names. We stared at our new baby for hours on end(literally) trying to determine which way to go. In the end, she just felt like a Claire...and so the birth certificate paperwork was completed, and our little girl was named. The middle name, AnnMarie, is a combination of Keith and Tracy's choices for a middle name. Ann is Tracy's middle name, her sister's middle name, and Keith's mom's middle name. Keith felt strongly about using Ann, but Tracy didn't like "Ann Anderson" together. Keith said that it would encourage her to get married and move out faster. Nice, dad. She's only 1 day old. Tracy's preference was Marie, which is her Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother's middle name. So, AnnMarie was the compromise!
